What is QiC Oncology?
Quality in Care (QiC) Oncology recognises, rewards and shares good practice in cancer prevention, diagnosis & testing, treatment pathways and patient support throughout the UK.
The programme has the endorsement, support and active participation of a number of key stakeholders.
Gaining QiC recognition means an initiative has been highlighted by the NHS, patients and industry as improving patient outcomes and standards of care in oncology

Who can enter?
Healthcare and allied healthcare professionals, patient associations and charities, public health bodies and healthcare companies.
Is there an entry fee?
No.
What work is eligible?
Your good practice initiatives from 2012 onwards can be entered.
Previous entries can be entered again with updated results.
Please refer to category description for criteria details.
Please note that judges retain the right to reassign entries to an alternative category than the one into which it has been submitted, if appropriate.
Are entries limited to the UK?
Yes – however we are still interested in hearing about initiatives that benefit patients and may be able to feature them in blogs/newsletters.

How can I be sure that you have received my entry?
When you submit your initiative by email, you will receive a message confirming receipt of your entry. If you have not received a confirmation email within 48 hours of submitting your entry please contact:

Can I enter more than one category?
Organisations may enter the same project into a maximum of one category and separate projects in multiple categories.
Please note that judges retain the right to reassign entries to an alternative category than the one into which it has been submitted, if appropriate.
Can I change or withdraw my entry after submission?
You can withdraw your entry at any time. Changes are not permitted to your entry after the submission deadline has passed.
Can I resubmit a previous entry?
Previous entries can be entered again with updated results.

How do you deal with confidential information?
The organisers reserve the right to publish information provided in your summary for subsequent publication. Descriptions of submissions from finalists will be published on QiC Connect, a web-based resource providing practical advice and ideas on how providers can develop or improve service provision and patient outcomes. Entrants may mark certain sensitive parts of their entry ‘not for publication’, provided such restrictions are not used unreasonably.

Who are the judges?
The 2018 Chair of Judges is Dr Pauline Leonard, Lead Cancer Clinician & Consultant Medical Oncologist, Whittington Health. Vice chair Dr Jesme Fox, Medical Director Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation.

Can you explain how the entries are reviewed?
Please refer to the judging criteria detailed under the category you wish to enter.
When is the shortlist announced?
Shortlisted entries will be announced on www.qualityincare.org after judging day.
When are the winners announced?
Finalists will be invited to the Awards ceremony where the winners will announced.
Is there a prize?
The top three entries in each category will all receive either a certificate or a trophy.
Is it possible to receive the judges’ comments on my entry if I am not successful?
Due to the historic volume of entries, the QiC Oncology judges are unable to offer individual comments to entrants.
How will the materials I submit be used?
If your entry is shortlisted, the Programme organisers may like to reproduce a summary of your entry, photographs and any other supporting materials in the winners’ booklet or within other materials they produce to promote the Awards (e.g. press materials or on the website). On each award application form, there is a section for you to confirm you are happy for your materials to be used in this way. The Programme organisers will not use any materials if you do not give express permission.
