Our blended learning approach to structured diabetes education combines engaging educational videos with Qismet accredited sessions, delivered online or in person. This flexible model supports people living with all types of diabetes by allowing self-paced learning through videos, followed by interactive sessions to reinforce key concepts. The facilitated component brings the content to life, offering personalised guidance, peer support, and opportunities to apply knowledge to everyday situations. This approach enhances understanding, builds confidence in self-management, and supports better health outcomes. It is designed to fit individual lifestyles and preferences, making diabetes education more accessible, impactful, and relevant to daily life

HIOWH have put together a really robust programme that was very strong on equality and diversity. The judges liked that it was available in different languages, had a great design and they could see the passion behind it. It delivered in different locations and communities, giving great outreach, plus they had really thought about the environmental impact.

DAFNE – Closed Loop Essentials

Executive Summary

Increased access to closed loop technology will significantly improve the lives of many people with type 1 diabetes. However, transitioning to this technology poses a challenge for both the person with diabetes and diabetes services. The DAFNE Closed Loop Essentials Course was developed to support: · people with type 1 diabetes to use a closed loop safely and effectively · diabetes services to efficiently onboard large numbers of adults onto closed loops 5,440 people have accessed the course. 91% of respondents rate the course excellent or good. Course graduates report significant increases in confidence in using a closed loop on course completion.

The DAFNE – Closed Loop Essentials had a comprehensive set of videos. And was a great course. It had a significant national impact and sped up the roll out of the HCL, making it accessible. It was innovative in its design, and can be used by both HCP’s and patients, before this there wasn’t anything that did that.
