Richard is a consultant dermatologist and Mohs surgeon who holds substantive posts in both Walsall/ Wolverhampton and Leicester, where he is dermatological surgery and Mohs lead.
He completed his medical degree in Nottingham in 2012 before later moving to West Midlands Deanery for core medical and subsequently dermatology training, where he was awarded ‘dermatology trainee of the year’ in 2019.
He later returned to Nottingham for a post CCT Mohs fellowship in 2020 to achieve his British Society for Dermatological Surgery Mohs accreditation.
He is passionate about teaching and furthering dermatology education. He is currently co-consultant honorary president of the University of Birmingham Dermatology Society. He is regularly involved in regional and national teaching for undergraduates and postgraduates particularly with the British Society for Dermatological Surgery. He is also an anatomy demonstrator and prepares prosections at the University of Nottingham.
He has led numerous successful quality and service improvement projects in dermatology and is always looking for ways to improve the quality and efficiency of the services in which he works.
He has been involved in setting up new, and improving existing, Mohs services in the West and East Midlands since 2021.
Richard was on the original steering group for this programme, advocating the recognition of psychodermatology services and resources as well as establishing a formal supporting partnership with Psychodermatology UK, for whom he was also a previous committee member.
Outside of medicine Richard loves to travel and enjoys several hobbies including numerous sports, scuba diving and DIY. He has previously achieved his private pilot’s licence in 2007.
